Campfires and bans

Campfires

Campfires are only permitted in designated campfire rings. Before visiting always check the campfire ban information. Dependant on the level of ban, be prepared to cook on a portable stove that is ULC or CSA rated. Campfires are considered as Category 1.

Cooking

During some bans, the following can be allowed: the use of CSA-rated or ULC-rated cooking stoves/BBQs that use gas, propane, or charcoal briquettes. These are restricted to flame height less than 15 cm tall. However, in extreme fire conditions, these may also be prohibited.

Smoking

Smoking is restricted during a campfire ban in all areas of the parks except within a front country campsite or inside your vehicle.

Wildfire reporting

Report a wildfire as soon as possible by calling 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a cell phone.
